LAWRENCE, KAN -- Mario Chalmers - whose clutch three-pointer catapulted Kansas to its first NCAA
title in 20 years - was at Anderson Book & Office Supply in downtown Newton for a book signing on Friday, June 19, 2009.
Mario and his father Ronnie, former Director of Basketball Operations for KU Basketball, was joined by author Jason King and
his wife. The Chalmers were gracious and friendly to all those who had waited for hours to see them. Mario's father Ronnie
will be coaching the Mario Chalmer's basketball camp in Salina in late July, contact Anderson's for details.

600 people showed up in downtown Newton on a humid 97 degree day
while Chalmers autographed copies of "Kansas Jayhawks: A Year to Remember," the best-selling, 300-page book about
the championship season by Yahoo! Sports college basketball reporter Jason King. The line outside the store stretched the entire
block of Main Street, reminding some of the days of downtown years ago!

A 6-foot-2 guard, Chalmers hit the biggest shot in Kansas history when he made a three-pointer to force overtime
in the NCAA title game against Memphis. With a newfound momentum, the Jayhawks prevailed with a 75-68 victory.

Chalmers - the Jayhawks' all-time leader in steals - was selected
as the Most Valuable Player at the Final Four. Following the season, he entered the NBA Draft and was selected by the Miami
Heat. Chalmers averaged 10 points and 4.9 assists during his first pro season.

"Kansas Jayhawks: A Year to Remember" has been one of
the top-selling books in the Kansas City and Lawrence area since its release last summer. One fan labeled it "the best
piece of KU championship memorabilia on the market." Author Jason King covered the Jayhawks for The Kansas City Star
for seven years before joining Yahoo! Sports last fall.

retail store in Newton, celebrating their 117th year in business. Anderson's has a reputation for hosting book signings and

Anderson's - Newton's Oldest Family
Business
Five generations
of the Anderson family have operated Newton's oldest retail business for 117 years on Main Street. Founder Philip Murray
Anderson began his business in 1892 selling newspapers on Santa Fe trains. In 1894 he opened a newsstand in an 8'x16' piano
box at 420 Main and was assisted by his mother, Clarissa.

In
1900 the business was moved to a double store front at 422-424 Main, the present site of the train depot. These buildings
were sold to the Santa Fe when the store relocated at 522 Main in 1928.

Phil
M. Anderson was Newton's first dealer of Victrolas, G.E. refrigerators, Eastman Kodak photo finishing, Hallmark cards, fireworks
and school books. The store was moved to this location in 1938. The limestone and brick building was built in 1883. The interior
of the store has the original ceiling fans, wood floors, metal ceilings and gas radiators.

Phil E., third generation, started work in 1931 and was a mainstay in the business
for over 61 years. His children, Dodi, Jon and Brad, worked in the store during their school years. His son, Phil III, fourth
generation, joined the business in 1958. Milton, Murray and Clay, fifth generation, began their retail careers working in
the store while in junior high school. Family involvement has always been a trademark of the Anderson success.
